Mr. Young is the father of Mrs. Warren Hartle and was well known and greatly admired by many friends here. His daily walk and faith in his Master was unswerving and those who knew him best, thought of him as on whom the Savior meant when he said “Blessed are the pure in heart.” He was ill for only a few hours, dying near midnight Monday night. He was about 85 years old and regarded as a hale, hearty man for his years. These years sat as a crowning glory over him, and they seemed to merge into an attractive old age that inspired all the better feelings to further Christian attainments. Funeral services were held this Thursday morning at 10 o’clock at Harris Creek Church where the interment will take place also. Advices from Chicago states that Mrs. Hartle is ill and cannot attend her father’s funeral Bradford Sentinel, Nov 13, 1925, pg 4 SAMUEL F. YOUNG Samuel F. Young, son of Samuel and Mary Young, was born near Moundsville, W. Va., on January 28, 1840, and passed away at his home near Versailles, November 9, 1925, aged 85 years, 9 months and 11 days. He was one of a family of nine children, three of whom passed on before, leaving two brothers and three sisters, all of whom live in Missouri, except on sister, who reside in Loudenville, W. Va. His mother died when he was but a lad; he lived with an uncle until he was 21, when he came to what was considered the West, and began working for his future father-in-law, Abraham Reish, near Covington, Ohio. On November 19th, 1868, he was married to Rachel. A. Reish. Eight children were born to them. Three of these have gone on before to await the coming of their parents. In young manhood he became a Christian, and united with the Church of the Brethren, to which faith he clung until our Father called him home. He was of a kindly disposition and a friend to all. Three years ago, on November 3, 1922, his companion was taken, leaving him alone. He was uncommonly strong and maintained his mental faculties in a remarkable way even to the end. He leaves to mourn his departure his five children- Elias, on the farm, John of Cincinnati, Mrs. Maude Hartle of Chicago, Mrs. Hannah Sutton of New Zealand, and Mrs. Rose Bookwalter, who has been staying with her father for some time. Besides these, there are seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many other relatives ad friends to mourn his passing. CARD OF THANKS We desire to thank all who in any way helped us in our time of sorrow. Particularly do we thank the donors of flowers and Rev. Berkebile for his consoling words. the Young family The Versailles Policy, November 19, 1925
