At the age of nine years he came with his parents to America, the voyage taking 97 days. Purchasing the farm now owned by Louis Ambos west of Montra. The family lived there some 4 or 5 years. August 15 John was united in marriage with Miss Rufina Yound at the bride's home by the bride's father, Rev. William Young. They resided for amny years on the farm now occupied by Lloyd Grey. His sons, John and Elmer and his daughter, Stella Sturdevant, his grandchildren, Mrs. Meryl Barnbrook, of Covington, Lloyd Grey of Anna, Bessie Shellenberger, of Anna and Finley Sturdevant of Springfield, as also three greatgrandchildren of Mrs. Barnbrook, survive with many other relatives and friends to mourn their loss. The funeral was held at the late residence September 4 conducted by Rev. L.L. Loehr, of Montra. Interment at Port Jefferson.
