Reproduction or re-presentation of copyrighted material will require the permission of the copyright owner. *********************************************************************** File contributed for use by Rosetta Hotler Tootie@netnitco.net January 20, 2001 *********************************************************************** Mary nee Moore Morgan obit The Evening Republican Apr 6 1915 Obituary Mary Moore, oldest daughter of Wm. and Elizabeth Moore, was born May 9 1823, in Shelby county, Ohio, and died in Rensselaer, Ind., Apr 1 1915, at the advanced age of 91 years, 10 mos., and 21 days. At the age of 18 she left Ohio and came with her parents and grandfather to Indiana making the trip by wagon and landed in Indiana May 25 1841. With the exception of about 10 yrs. She has resided in Jasper Co. (Indiana-rmh) since that time, being one of the early pioneers. She was united in marriage to John D. Morgan June 25 1842, he having preceded her in death some 36 yrs. ago. To this union twelve children were born, four of whom survive, namely, Mrs. I. J. Karsner, of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. C.? L. Townsley of Birchwood, Wis., Wm. I. Morgan of Kingman, Kans., and George L. Morgan of this city, with whom she made her home for a number of yrs. When she was 14 yrs. old she confided her love for Christ by uniting with the Methodist church and until failing health kept her from getting about remained faithful to her church, performing her duties cheerfully and with good spirit. She was always ready and willing to keep those in need, doing deeds of kindness with a loving hand. Beside her children she is survived by two sister, Mrs. Sarah McCurtain of Watseka, Ill., and Mrs. Rebecca Barkley and Olrin D.
