Louis Jacob Metz, 61, well known retired farmer of the Jackson Center community, died Friday night at 8:30 o'clock in his home in Jackson Center. Death claimed him after a long illness, his illness from complications beginning five years ago. He was an active farmer in Logan county for many years and when he retired early this spring, he moved to Jackson Center. Born on October 26, 1885, he was a son of Phillip and Barbara Wildermuth Metz. His parents preceded him in death. He was united in marriage on December 25, 1912 with Miss Louise Gross and she survives with the following children, Mrs. Luetta Elsass, rural route, St. Johns; Roy Metz, rural route, Quincy;Orla Metz, Columbus; Miss Martha Metz at home. There are five grandchildren. One son, Raymond, preceded the father in death, passing away at the age of 11 months. His surviving brothers and sisters are: Christ Metz, Fred Metz, Mrs. Clara Kemp, Mrs. Sophia Seer, Jackson Center; Mrs. Christina Widdowson, Princess Ann Maryland; Mrs. Hulda Gerber, rural route, Quincy; Mrs. lydia Hanks, Wapakoneta. A faithful member of the Emanuel Lutheran church at Montra throughout his life, he was active in church work. He was a highly respected man and was known as a sincere Christian. Funeral rites will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Emanuel Lutheran church in Montra, preceded by brief rites at the home at 1:30 O'clock. Rev. C. J. Kettler of Montra will officiate. Burial will be made in Glen cemetery, Port Jefferson.
