    16 Oct. 1874 died Friday evening, Samuel S. MAXWELL, Perry Twp.
79y.2m.24d. eldest son of John & Ruth (SIFORD/CYPHERED) Maxwell.
Samuel S. Maxwell born 16 Jul 1795. His parental grandfather James
Maxwell with two brothers, Robert  & John, emigrated from Scotland
to the colonies of America. One settled in Virginia, and one in
Maryland, and James Maxwell came to Penn.
    His parental grandmother was a sister to Thomas CAMPBELL. Mr.
Maxwell's father served as a quarter master in the Rev. War. The
family immigrated to Ohio in 1800 and settled in Jefferson Co. Ohio,
removing to Harrison Co. Ohio one year before Ohio became a
state.(1803).
    Samuel was one of eleven (11) children. He married Mary WAGONER
in Montgomery Co. Ohio 1 Feb. 1816. They were married fifty seven
(57) years. In Feb. 1835 the couple came to Shelby Co. Ohio. They
were the parents of eleven children, 7 sons, and 4 daughters. 6 sons
and 1 daughter now dead.
