Joseph Mawhorr, of Franklin township, died Sunday afternoon after an
extended illness.  He was one of the best known residents of that section of
the county.  The deceased was a member of Troop E, Sixth regiment, United
States Cavalry, enlisting in the service in `861.  He served for three
years.  He was born in Licking County, Ohio and at the time of his death was
68 years old.  He is survived by his wife, four daughters, and three sons.
The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Wapakoneta Wednesday
afternoon.
