Haenke-Streich lkstreich@chartermi.net September 24, 2000 *********************************************************************** From Shelby County Democrat, Sidney, Ohio. 29 Apr 1892, p 5: DEATH SEPARATED THEM. The following, taken from the Dayton Journal of Tuesday, is truly pathetic and will be fully understood when it is known that Mr. GUCKES has been blind for years. The two were familiar figures on the streets of Dayton. Mr. GUCKES will greatly miss the helpfulness of his grandson. Mr. GUICKES was a resident of Sidney for some years and is well known here. "George W. HARP, the eight year old son of Wm. H. HARP, of Sideny, died at that place on Sunday and will [be] buried to-day. The boy was a grandson of Henry GUCKES, of this city, and during the school vacation made his home with his grand parents. He was greatly devoted to his grandfather, and will be remembered by scores of persons for his loving attentions as guide and companion for Mr. GUCKES. The latter is greatly depressed over the loss of his grandsons. The boy died of pneumonia. Mr. GUCKES will attend the funeral." I have no affiliation with the Guckes or Harp names, but offer the above obituary in the hopes it will be of assistance to someone. Lynne K. Streich
