Reproduction or re-presentation of copyrighted material will require the permission of the copyright owner. *********************************************************************** File contributed for use by suengary@wcoil.com November 18, 2000 *********************************************************************** Philip Jacob Fogt the third of seven children born to Jacob Fogt & Julian Ann Hagelberger, was born on the 11th day of Sept. , 1843 in Shelby Co., Ohio In early infancy he was made a child of God thru the Christ commanded rite of holy baptism. On mar. 17th, 1861 he publicly made known his fath in the savior-Son of God by confirmation before Rev. George Loewenstein. Mar. 5, 1865 Mr. Fogt was united in holy wedlock to Mary Stengle by Rev. J. Brudental. To this union were born eight sons & one daughter. The later died in early childhood. The faithful wife was taken from her husband by death on Friday, Oct, 26, 1917 as a result of injuries received in an accident. To a large degree of God blessed the departed with a fair amount of health. About seven years ago he received an injury to the hand that never healed. A number of months past hardening of the arteries brought severe trouble & suffering to his foot. Finally after being bed-ridden for some weeks it was deemed best to submit to an operation. On Sunday Mar. 24th. At seven o'clock Saturday evening, March, 26th, the Maker called him to eternal peace in the presence as his Christ whom he confessed as his Redeemer & Comforter. Death was immediately due to paralysis of the kidneys. The departed reached the age of 83 years 6 months & 15 days. Peter, John H., & Samuel Fogt , Mrs. Jacob Pfaadt & Mrs. Katie Fogt preceded their brother Philip into Eternity, Mrs. George Wenger is the last to survive the family of four brothers & three sisters, eight sons, Joseph A., Henry J., & Roy W. of Sidney, Louis M., & Perry N., of Anna, Jacob P., of Dayton , William S., & James A.,of Piqua 26 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren mourn the aged & kindly gentleman of God. For years Mr. Philip J. Fogt was a worthy & life-long member of St Jacobs Evangelical Lutheran Church of Anna, Ohio. He was one of the most well-known & highly respected resident of this community. To our God we commend this faithful father, this fair friend & faithful father, this fair friend & amiable neighbor. Funeral services were held from the Anna Church, Tuesday afternoon Mar., 29th at 2:00 O'clock interment made at Peral cemetery on the Dixie highway. He suffered pain & grief below, Christ heals him now from all his woe. For him hath endless joy begun: he shines in glory like the sun Then let us leave him to his rest, And we must well our souls prepare, When death shall come, to meet him there.
