    Jackson Township among the youngest townships of Shelby county.  It occupies the northeast corner of Shelby County and is bounded on the North by Auglaize County, on the East by Logan County, on the South by Salem township and on the West by Dinsmore and Franklin townships.
    The  surface is level, although some rolling land is found in this township.  The soil is fertile and very productive.

As early as 1831 James McCormick came from Greene County.
1833 Andrew Nogle came from Fairfield County.
March 1834 Thomas Cathcart came from Montgomery County.
1835 David Snider came from Montgomery County & William Johnston.
Prior to 1836 Mathew Vandine, Timothy Wale, Julius Wale, Moses Quick, Kimmer Hudson, Henry Roland, Lweis Bland, Reuben Clayton, and William Dawdon.
1837 John W. Knight, Jephtha M. Davis, Dudley Hughes,  Luther L. Davis, and William Babcock.
1838 Jonathan Howell came from Clark County.
1839 Samuel Brandenberg came from Montgomery County.
1840 Jacob H. & David Babcock
1843 Christian Hawver came from Miami County.
1845 Peter Hawver.

St. Jacob's Lutheran Church Organized in April 1851 by Rev. George Spangler at the house of Jacob Zorn with about 26 members in attendance.  On April 15, 1851, a 1 acre lot was purchased and a hewed log structure was built.  The building was finished in August 1851.
St. Emanuel's Lutheran Church Organized in 1860 by Rev. Henry King.  Located in Montra, church members held meeting in the old storeroom.  In 1862, a frame church was built and dedicated by Rev. Labenstein.  This building was destroyed by fire in 1874.  In 1875, a new frame church was built.
The Montra M.E. Church Organized during the winter of 1864/5 in the Montra school house by Rev. D.E. Rinehart, assisted by Rev. Smith, with about 11 members in attendance.  In June 1879, a new church was built and dedicated by Rev. Roberts, assisted by Rev. J.B. Findlay.
Pleasant Hill M.E. Church Organized sometime prior to 1838.  Meetings were held at member's houses until 1842/3 when a log building was built.  In 1853, a frame building was built.
Jackson Center Seventh Day Baptist Church Organized March 22, 1840 at the house of Solomon Sayre by Elder James Bailey, assisted by Elders Simeon Babcock & S.A. Davis, with about 30 members in attendance.  In 1842, a hewed log church building was built.  In September 1859, a frame church was built and was dedicated by Elder L.A. Davis, assisted by Elders S. Babcock, Benjamin Clement, and Elder Maxson.  In May 1881, a new frame church was built and it was dedicated in 1882.
