    Franklin Township is bounded on the north by Dinsmore township, on the east by Jackson & Salem townships, on the south by Salem, Turtle Creek, & Clinton townships, on the west by Turtle Creek & Van Buren townships.  The Dayton & Michigan Railroad runs through the township from north to south.
     Franklin Township is drained by Plum Creek.  It's surface is generally level or slightly undulating.  The soil is comprised mainly of black loam and is very fertile and productive.

The Reformed Church Society Organized September 1832 by Rev. John Pence at the house of Jacob Schlosser.  In 1834, with the help of the Lutheran Society, a union building (hewed log) was built. In 1846/7, a frame church was built.
Wesley Chapel M.E. Church Organized in 1833 by Rev. Thomas Simmes at the residence of Philip Young. In 1843/1847, a frame church was built on the Murphy Pike.
Plum Creek M.E. Church Society  Organized February 1839 by Rev. David Warnock.  Regular meetings were held at the house of Thomas Shaw for several years.  In November 1860, a frame church was dedicated by Rev. Jacob M. Holmes, assisted by Rev. Patrick G. Goode.
