Witnesseth that the said John Layman Junior for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Jeremiah Layman at or before the unsealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof the said John Layman Junior doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom doth discharge the said Jeremiah Layman his heirs, executors, and administrators hath bargained, sold, aliene and ______ed unto the said Jeremiah Layman and to his heirs and assigns forever ____ that certain tract or lot of land of seventy nine acres and twelve hundredth of an acre being the East half of the North East quarter of section four town one range twelve between the Miami Rivers beginning at the North East corner of said section running South one hundred and sixty perches or poles, thence to Polser Hetzler's line thence westward by nearly eighty perches thence North to the North line of said section thence East with said to the place of beginning containing seventy nine and twelve hundredth acres, be the same more or less together with all and singular the privilege and appurtenance, thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining To have and To hold the aforesaid granted premise, unto the said Jeremiah Layman and unto the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Jeremiah Layman and to his heirs and assigns forever. _____ The said John Layman Junior doth covenant with the said Jeremiah Layman and his heirs, that all and singular the premises and land aforesaid unto the said Jeremiah Layman his heirs and assigns against all lawful claims and demands whatsoever he the said John Layman Junior and his heirs will well and truly warrant and forever defend. In Witness Whereof the said John Layman Junior together with Margaret his wife who hereby relinquishes her right of dower hath hereunto severally set their names and affixed their seals the day and year first above written. Sealed and delivered in the presence of: /s/ John Layman Junior (seal) William S ______ and William I_______ /s/ Margaret Layman (her mark) State of Ohio, County On the 29 October, 1833 personally appeared before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace within and for said County personally appeared the said John Layman Senior and Margaret his wife of County State of Ohio who signed and sealed the foregoing deed and acknowledged the signing and sealing thereof to be their act and deed for the purposes therein expressed and the said Margaret the wife of the said John Layman Senior being by me examined separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said deed being fully make known to her, by reading the same in her presence she did declare upon such examination that she did voluntarily sign seal and acknowledge the same and that he is still satisfied therewith and I do further certify that from my own personal knowledge I am satisfied the said John Layman Senior and Margaret Layman are the persons they represent themselves to be given under my hand and seal this 29 day of October 1833. /s/ William ______in Justice of the Peace Entered Nov 6 and recorded Nov 16 1833. /s/ J. Also, it appears as if the Justice of the Peace transposed "Senior" for "Junior" in John Layman's name in the last paragraph of the deed. This document was found in Shelby Co.
